this privacy policy explains how i handle data for philliant.com. it covers visitors to the site, the analytics i run, purchases of my digital products such as my books, and the automation i use to publish posts to social platforms, including linkedin and dev.to.
what this policy covers#
this policy covers:
- this website and its published content
- the analytics i run on the site
- purchases of my digital products, such as books
- my github-based publishing automation
- my linkedin publishing integration for my personal profile
- my dev.to publishing integration for my personal account
site analytics and cookies#
to understand how the site is used, i run two analytics tools:
- google analytics 4, which uses cookies and may collect identifiers, approximate location, pages viewed, referrer, and device and browser details
- cloudflare web analytics, which is privacy-friendly and does not use cookies or fingerprinting
i look at this data in aggregate to see what content is useful and to keep the site healthy. i do not use it to identify you personally. you can limit analytics cookies through your browser settings or a content blocker.
when you buy a digital product#
sales of my digital products are handled by polar, which acts as the merchant of record and seller for those transactions. that means polar is the party that processes your payment, calculates and remits any tax, and delivers your download.
to complete a purchase, polar collects and processes information such as your name, email address, billing location, and payment details. their handling of that data is covered by their own privacy policy as the merchant of record.
i receive limited order information, such as your name, email address, the product you bought, and the order total, so that i can deliver the product and provide support. i do not receive or store your full payment card details.
books bought through amazon are a separate case. those purchases are sold by amazon under amazon’s own terms and privacy policy, and i receive only aggregate sales reporting, not your personal data.
how i use data#
i use this data only to:
- publish links and post summaries for my own content
- run, monitor, and troubleshoot publishing automation
- understand site traffic in aggregate
- deliver digital products and provide support to buyers
- meet tax, accounting, and legal obligations
